German Digital Health VC Fund Heal Capital has already raised 80 million euros
The German Private health insurances invest alongside Heartbeat Labs and Flying Health
Industry expert Dr. Christian Weiß joins Heal Capital as Partner
The fund will launch operationally in Q1, 2020
Berlin, January 15th, 2020. Heal Capital, the new HealthTech VC backed by the German Private health insurance companies is gaining speed: Shortly after the announcement of the fund at the end of 2019, Heal Capital has already raised 80 million euro from the German Private health insurance companies and is on track to reach the target of 100 million euros. Dr. Christian Weiß will lead the Heal Capital team as a new Partner and Managing Director from February 2020.
“After only a few weeks, many of the Private health insurance companies have already invested in the fund. We are on track to reach the targeted goal of 100 million euros after a very short time”, said Dr. Florian Reuther, Director of the Association of the German Private health insurances. “The huge interest in Heal Capital since the announcement encourages us in our approach, that the combination of growth capital and support in accessing the market is exactly what the market needs right now to drive digital innovation in our healthcare system.”
Heal Capital is an independent venture capital fund that supports technology-enabled startups in the healthcare market with growth capital (Series A) and market access. The fund has been initiated by the Association of the German Private Health Insurances as well as Heartbeat Labs and Flying Health, two active German digital health investors who are managing the fund together with the Heal Capital team.
From February onwards, the Heal Capital team will expand with Dr. Christian Weiß joining as Partner and Managing Director. Prior to his, he worked for McKinsey and was a Partner at the venture capital fund Creathor Ventures, where he concentrated on healthcare, technology, and equity investments.
